District 89 Youth Leadership Program 2026-27

Purpose
The Youth Leadership Program (the Program) is a Toastmasters’ leadership development initiative designed to help young leaders build confidence, communication skills, and leadership experience through structured club-level engagement.
The Program participants learn by doing—strengthening presentation and meeting roles, practicing leadership responsibilities, and developing the mindset needed to serve the community and inspire others.

Program
The Program consists of 8 workshops of 1-2 hour sessions that enable those between the ages of 14 and 18 to develop their communication and leadership skills through practical experience. The Program is presented during or after school, or on weekends.
The Program meetings are like Toastmasters club meetings in that there is an agenda that includes practice in parliamentary procedure, prepared and impromptu speeches, evaluations and the selection of presiding officers.
Sponsoring Club and
Cooperating Organization
Participants in the Program are selected by the cooperating organizations such as school and / or sponsoring Toastmasters club. The workshops are limited to 25 students and are coordinated by Toastmasters members, with oversight from their clubs.
